*Renewals are not necessary for books belonging to Curry Library because they are checked out until the end of the semester for students or until the following May for staff/faculty. If you wish to keep your book checked out for longer than the due date, please contact the library at email@example.com.
**Renewals are only allowed if the book is not overdue and if there is not a hold on the item.
Business days are defined as days of normal office operations and typically exclude weekends, holidays, or times office in Curry Library or other locations are closed.
Ex. If a book was requested from another MOBIUS library on a Friday afternoon, it is unlikely that the book would be processed before the following Monday morning, meaning that Monday would count as the first business day in the request's process.
Books in the General Collection are organized using the Dewey Decimal (Dewey) call number system. The Dewey call number system is a subject based system with similar subjects and topics grouped close together. To locate a book you desire you must first know its call number. To locate a call number use the search widget below.
Start an Advanced Search
For more information on subject areas in Dewey and how to read call numbers, click the links below.
Once you know the call number of the book you are looking for, you must locate the range where the call number belongs. Each range is labeled by number and with the coverage of call numbers located in the range.
For example, a book with a call number of 855 would be located within this range, Range 46.
The books on the shelves are organized top to bottom, left to right. The easiest way to locate the beginning point of a call number range is to look directly at the range, turn left, walk to the end of the range, and locate the highest shelf on your right.
The self-checkout computer is located on the intermediate floor of Curry Library, near the South wall. The Intermediate floor is accessible during normal business hours from the Quad side door of the main floor of Curry Hall, or 24/7 via the swipe access door (WJC ID required) on the south side exterior of Curry Hall.
The self-check out computer may be used to check out any book from the General collection, as well as any books on the hold shelf that the patron has requested through MOBIUS, Prospector, or KC-Towers.
1). To use the self check-out machine, first scan your William Jewell College ID Card. If your William Jewell College ID card does not scan, or if card scans but the machine does not find your record within the system, try manually typing your unique campus ID number on the self-check out screen.
2). If the self check-out does not pull up your account, please use the red binder or clipboard near the Circulation Desk to write down your name, the date of your checkout, and the bar codes of the books you would like to checkout.
3). To scan a book's bar code, make sure to hold the book still and bring it up the scanner next to the computer screen on the self-checkout machine. Ensure that the bar code you are scanning is the correct scanner-- this bar code should say "CURRY LIBRARY" somewhere, and the number corresponding to the bar code should be nine digits long.
Note: If you are scanning a book from another institution, make sure that you scan the lending library's bar code, otherwise the system will not recognize the material you are trying to check out.
If the book successfully scans, it will appear as a new check out on the screen, alongside the due date of the book.
4). Once you are done, make sure to sign out of your library account. The self check-out machine will ask you whether or not you would like a date due slip at the end of your transaction. If you select 'e-mail receipt,' you will be e-mail a date due slip at your William Jewell college e-mail address.
The Curry Library Circulation Desk is located on the north wall of the Intermediate Floor. For hours exact location, click the links below.

Every checked out item from Curry Library will have a set due date. It is always best to return your book before or by its due date. Not doing so may result in the item becoming Overdue (and eventually Billed). Any account that has an Overdue or Billed item will be locked until the item(s) in question are returned or cleared from the account.
You may always view the due dates of any item on your account online via your Library Account, or by visiting the Curry Library Circulation Desk during Desk Hours.
There are two return locations on the Intermediate Floor of Curry Hall:
You may also return your book to the Circulation Desk directly during Desk Hours.
During non-desk hours, it is recommended that you utilize the return box to return your books in Curry. Because the Intermediate Floor is an open 24/7 space, Curry Library cannot guarantee the safety and security of any book returned/left on the black cart or at the Circulation Desk after Desk Hours.
Note - The return box will be checked at least once every business day, typically at the end of the day. This may result in a slight delay in removing a checked out book from your account.
You may return any book or item checked out from Curry Library to the Book Return Door Slot in the door of PLC 212. This door is located on south side of the 2nd Floor of the PLC between the staircase and the restrooms/printer area.
This book return door slot is a secure return location and checked out items may be returned in this door slot 24/7. The returns will be checked at least once every business day, typically at the end of the day. This may result in a slight delay in removing a checked out book from your account.
